Murder Mystery parties are a popular way for friends, family, and complete strangers to come together for one immersive, themed experience. At The Silver Fountain Inn, we always include a 5-course dinner to help set the mood and enhance the evening. Instead of playing Clue!, or reading Nancy Drew, you become a part of a mystery as it unfolds during (typically) the evening hours. As the night goes on, it’s up to you to crack the case, unless you’re the culprit of course! Everyone is a suspect, so if you want to uncover clues and find the killer, you’ll to want to pay close attention to the tips we are about to divulge.

Everyone is a suspect.

Everyone you meet will be a suspect and nothing may be what is seems. Sounds challenging, right? That’s because it is! Every person will be getting into character, dressing for the part and often talking the part, too. Take everything with a grain of salt. Ask questions. Get answers. Find the lies. Uncover the truth.

Answer these three questions.

Once you understand that everyone is a suspect, you’ll want to answer three questions to be sure you have found the culprit: the means, motive, and opportunity. If you can answer why, how, and when, you’re on your way to uncovering the truth. The only way to do this is to have conversations with the other characters.

Don’t get distracted.

With all of the characters, the actors, the food, and the ambiance, it’s easy to get distracted. Paying close attention to all of the details and remaining attentive will ensure you are on your way to solving the case.

Use your ears.

Other characters will be having conversations throughout the night. Listening in might give you a few extra details you might have not otherwise uncovered. What you do with this uncovered information will be completely up to you.

Mind (or don’t mind) your manners.

Everyone will be getting into character. Keep in mind that some characters may exhibit habits or behaviors that might seem rude like like speaking loudly, giving you the cold shoulder, butting into conversations they are not a part of. How you respond is up to you, but always keep in mind that everyone is acting as their assigned character. How would your character react to someone that is loud and obnoxious? It’s all a part of the fun!
